Un singolo prisma di acquamarina si leva netto dalla sommità di questa miniatura di Xuebaoding: limpido come acqua più che intensamente colorato, conserva nel corpo solo il più tenue soffio di azzurro e qualche velo interno presso la terminazione. Cresce diritto da un ciuffo raggiato di lamine bianche e sottili, con lamelle madreperlacee verde-oliva chiaro impilate alle spalle e una seconda rosetta, più piccola, annidata a sinistra.
L'acquamarina è la varietà azzurra del berillo, Be3Al2Si6O18, esagonale e dura, 7,5–8 Mohs, con il colore dovuto a tracce di ferro. I cristalli di Xuebaoding si collezionano non tanto per la saturazione quanto per la trasparenza vitrea, per le facce prismatiche pulite e per le associazioni di stile alpino su cui si posano; questo ne è un esempio schietto.
Il gruppo raggiunge i 2,5 × 2,8 × 3,6 cm per un peso di 14 g. Arriva sulla base in acrilico ambrato chiaro che vede in fotografia, e il pezzo di queste immagini è quello che le verrà inviato.
