Common questions
Do I need an account to use the Mineral Finder?
No — anyone can submit a request with just a name and email. If you have an account (or create one with the same email), your requests and our recommendations also appear in your account dashboard, which makes them easier to keep track of.
Can I upload a reference photo?
Yes. You can attach up to 3 reference images (5 MB each) to show us the style, color, or crystal habit you are after. Photos of pieces you have seen elsewhere are a great way to communicate what you want.
Can you find Chinese minerals?
That is our specialty. We work directly with classic Chinese localities — Yaogangxian and Shangbao in Hunan for fluorite, Xuebaoding in Sichuan for scheelite, the Hunan antimony belt for stibnite, and Fujian for fluorite — so locality-specific Chinese requests are where we can help most.
Can I set a budget?
Yes. The form takes an optional minimum and maximum budget in USD, and we only recommend pieces inside your range. A realistic range helps us match you with specimens you will actually want.
How long does it take to get recommendations?
Usually 1–3 business days. We review your preferences, search our available inventory, and email you a personalized shortlist of matching specimens.
Will my request and recommendations be private?
Yes. Your request and our recommendations are only visible to you — in email and, if you have an account, in your account dashboard. Nothing is ever posted publicly.
