Sourcing at the Mines

Each year, Maggie spends extended time at mines across China and other parts of Asia, working directly with miners and lapidary partners to curate the finest mineral specimens at the source.

These field trips ensure that every crystal is selected for authenticity, aesthetic beauty, and geological significance — representing the best of Asia's mineral heritage.

Our Curation & Provenance Standards

At MyMineralBox, we prioritize geological accuracy and locality transparency. Every specimen in our catalog undergoes a strict 3-step verification process.

1. Locality Confirmation

We strictly label specimens with their specific mine, district, and province data. We avoid generalized labels (e.g., just "China") when specific locality data is available.

2. Treatment Disclosure

We adhere to the AGTA guidelines for disclosure. Any treatments (heating, irradiation, or repair) are explicitly stated in the specimen's technical data.

3. Visual Authenticity

All photos are color-calibrated to 5500K (Daylight) to ensure the digital representation matches the physical specimen you receive.

Our Mineral Expertise

With deep knowledge of mineralogy and Asian mineral localities, My Mineral Box publishes in-depth collector guides and locality research to help collectors worldwide make informed decisions.

Locality Research

Our research covers key Chinese mining districts including Yaogangxian Mine in Hunan Province, Xuebaoding in Sichuan, and many more.
