Il colore è quello dell’acqua di mare in luce bassa: un verde acqua tenue che si fa più profondo verso l’angolo superiore destro del gruppo e si smorza fin quasi all’incolore lungo i bordi anteriori. Cubi vetrosi si accavallano in una pila bassa, molti dei quali portano sopraccrescite smerigliate chiare che si posano sulle facce limpide come il fiato sul vetro, e l’insieme è abbastanza trasparente da permetterle di seguire un cristallo attraverso il corpo di quello successivo.
Xianghualing, nello Hunan, è un sistema stannifero polimetallico e la sua fluorite si muove su questo registro azzurro-verde pallido molto più spesso che sui viola saturi di altre località cinesi. Una parte della fluorite della regione risponde alla luce ultravioletta e una parte no, quindi consideri l’eventuale fluorescenza un regalo e non una promessa. La specie ha durezza 4 Mohs e quattro direzioni di sfaldatura, il che rende gli urti sugli spigoli il rischio principale durante il trasporto e sullo scaffale.
