Qui la fluorite viola inchiostro è cresciuta in sfere anziché in blocchi. Una dozzina di aggregati arrotondati si distribuisce su una crosta zuccherina di quarzo color avorio antico, ciascuno formato da centinaia di minuscoli cubetti stipati in una sfera; il gruppo serrato in alto a destra sembra nero finché la luce non vi penetra e il viola riaffiora.
Il materiale del Fujian in questa tonalità viene commercializzato come fluorite Tanzan, e l'abito sferico è la parte interessante. Invece di un solo cristallo che cresce con regolarità su una faccia libera, migliaia di nuclei sono partiti tutti insieme sulla drusa di quarzo e si sono sviluppati verso l'esterno: ciò che sembra una sfera è in realtà una folla. La fluorite è CaF2, durezza 4 Mohs, con sfaldatura perfetta secondo quattro serie di piani: le sfere si scheggiano più facilmente di quanto il loro aspetto compatto suggerisca, quindi sollevi l'esemplare afferrando la placca e non il viola.
La placca misura 10,4 × 6,6 × 4,1 cm e pesa 230 g, abbastanza sottile da restare appoggiata in verticale o distesa in un cassetto. Nessun supporto è incluso. Qui non c'è alcuna immagine di repertorio: questa è la placca stessa.
