La piromorfite riveste la faccia superiore di questa piccola placca del Guangxi in ciuffi raggiati — aghi sottili che si aprono a ventaglio da centri comuni, barilotti esagonali più tozzi a riempire gli spazi — e il verde chartreuse è tanto saturo da sembrare illuminato dall'interno contro la roccia madre grigio-bruna e spenta. Chiazze color ruggine attraversano la matrice sottostante e rendono il colore ancora più deciso.
La piromorfite è un clorofosfato di piombo, Pb5(PO4)3Cl, che si forma nella zona ossidata sopra i giacimenti di piombo, dove acque ricche di fosfati attaccano la galena. Il piombo le conferisce un peso notevole per le dimensioni e una lucentezza resinosa, quasi cerosa, che pochi altri minerali verdi eguagliano. Con durezza Mohs da 3,5 a 4 le punte degli aghi si sbriciolano facilmente: prenda l'esemplare soltanto dai bordi della matrice.
Piccolo ma di forte impatto: 3,8 × 3,6 × 2,0 cm, 35 g, montato su un blocco di acrilico trasparente con mastice bianco perché la faccia cristallina risulti inclinata verso chi guarda. L'esemplare di queste fotografie è quello che verrà imballato per Lei.
