Su questo esemplare
Yunnan red aragonite at 43 g; a miniature with a strong pink on a quiet ground.
Aragonite is chemically the same as calcite but crystallises differently, which is why it builds sprays and columns instead of blocky rhombs.
Yunnan is China's most mineralogically diverse province, source of the pyromorphite, azurite and blue aragonite that have become collector favourites.
Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 4.3 × 3.8 × 2 cm (1.69 × 1.50 × 0.79 in) and 43 g (1.5 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
Carbonate: never clean with acid or vinegar.
Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.
