Two glassy fluorite cubes grown through one another form the heart of this Yaogangxian specimen — a textbook interpenetration twin at a scale the mine rarely produced. The color does something remarkable: each cube reads pale ice-blue through its faces, then deepens to violet precisely along the edges and corners, so the twin looks drawn in purple ink. Where light passes cleanly through, soft blue-green windows open into the interior.
Transparency is the measure of top-tier Yaogangxian fluorite, and this piece is water-clear through several centimetres — hold it toward a window and the far side of the room comes through tinted lavender. A modest ribbon of milky quartz along the base confirms the pocket association without competing for attention.
The Yaogangxian tungsten mine in Chenzhou, Hunan, has seen its output of large, clean twins slow to a trickle; crystals combining this clarity, size and edge zoning have become genuinely difficult to source, and this is among the finest fluorites we have handled. It weighs 1,195 g and spans 12.4 × 10.2 × 7.4 cm.
A fitted metal armature stand is included and shown in the photographs, all of which were taken of this exact specimen.
