Cubi violetti affollano spalla a spalla questa placca dello Hunan, impilati cubo su cubo così che la superficie si legge come una serie di piccole terrazze anziché come una crosta piatta. Quasi ogni cristallo è zonato, con un bordo smerigliato chiaro, quasi bianco, che si chiude su un nucleo scuro color uva, e una striscia di matrice grigio-beige nuda scende lungo un lato a dare un margine al campo.
Una zonatura del genere è il registro di un'acqua che cambiava. La fluorite assorbe gli elementi in traccia e i difetti reticolari che il fluido trasportava nel momento in cui ciascuno strato cresceva, perciò un cubo zonato è una pila di capitoli distinti anziché un evento unico. La fluorite ha durezza 4 Mohs con sfaldatura ottaedrica perfetta: sollevi una placca come questa dalla matrice, mai da un cristallo sporgente.
Pezzo ampio e piatto, 8,4 cm × 2,5 cm × 5,1 cm e 130 g, fotografato in mano senza supporto. Ogni cristallo che riesce a contare nelle immagini appartiene alla placca in vendita.
