Tre distinte formazioni di fluorite si appollaiano lungo la cresta di questa piccola matrice, e ognuna nasconde un cuore violetto dentro un guscio quasi incolore. La più grande, a destra, è una pila di cubi a gradini il cui nucleo blu-violetto si legge in trasparenza attraverso gli strati esterni limpidi; il cristallo centrale e quello di sinistra ripetono lo stesso gioco in scala minore. Attorno a essi la matrice verde oliva è cosparsa di lamelle tabulari color nocciola e di una rosetta crema.
Si tratta di zonatura del colore, non di inclusione. La fluorite registra i mutamenti del proprio fluido di crescita sotto forma di gusci concentrici, perciò un interno violetto sigillato sotto una crescita successiva trasparente segnala un cambio di chimica avvenuto a metà percorso. I pezzi zonati ripagano chi li ruota sotto una lampada, perché il nucleo si accende e si spegne al variare dell'angolo di luce. Il CaF2 ha durezza 4 Mohs e sfalda perfettamente secondo i piani dell'ottaedro: eviti quindi di premere sugli spigoli.
Nel complesso l'esemplare misura 6,4 × 2,5 × 3,8 cm per 50 g, mostrato fra le dita come riferimento di scala e senza supporto in dotazione. I cristalli di queste immagini sono i cristalli nella scatola.
