Un cristallo, non un gruppo: un unico cubo largo, quasi incolore, con appena un soffio di verde mare nel profondo, le facce costruite in sottili terrazze parallele che catturano la luce come vetro satinato. Una drusa bianca di piccoli cristalli di quarzo è risalita lungo gli spigoli e sulle facce inferiori, e una linea di punti metallici ottonati segna il contatto in cui il cristallo poggiava un tempo sulla propria matrice.
Yaogangxian, nello Hunan, è nota per i suoi viola e verdi saturi, il che fa di un cristallo pallido come questo la scelta più discreta, e spesso la più trasparente, perché i difetti reticolari e gli elementi in traccia che danno colore alla fluorite ne intorbidano al tempo stesso la limpidezza. La fluorescenza nella specie è imprevedibile: parte del materiale di Yaogangxian risponde alla luce ultravioletta e parte la ignora, quindi consideri ogni bagliore un regalo e non una promessa. Con durezza 4 Mohs e sfaldatura perfetta, chiede un ripiano tutto suo.
