Cubi spettrali dentro altri cubi: la storia di questo thumbnail verticale di Yaogangxian sta tutta qui. La fluorite viola è cresciuta come un gruppo serrato di individui compenetrati e ogni cristallo conserva i propri fantasmi, contorni squadrati di una crescita più antica sospesi nel vetro, che rientrano a gradini come terrazzamenti. Il colore sale dal lilla pallido della base al viola uva compatto dell’angolo superiore destro, mentre una faccia centrale si apre come una finestra blu ardesia.
I fantasmi nascono quando la crescita si arresta abbastanza a lungo perché una pellicola di impurità si depositi sulle facce del cristallo, e riprende poi sigillando quella superficie all’interno. La fluorite registra l’interruzione con chiarezza insolita, perché lo spettro mantiene la geometria a facce piane del cristallo che lo ha generato. La fluorite è CaF2, durezza 4 Mohs, con sfaldatura ottaedrica perfetta: la tenga lontana da esemplari più duri.
Misura 5,8 × 3,6 × 2,0 cm e pesa 50 g, trattenuta da pasta adesiva rimovibile sul blocco di acrilico trasparente visibile nelle fotografie. Il blocco è compreso nella vendita e la pietra ritratta è la pietra spedita.
