Su questo esemplare
Yunnan stepped pyrite at 6.5 cm and 286 g; a heavy small cabinet piece. Keep dry. A stack of stepped pyrite crystals in layered plates, the surface a pale brassy grey with a soft metallic sheen and darker lines in the steps.
Pyrite grows as cubes, pyritohedra and octahedra with a brassy metallic lustre; Chinese pyrite is known for sharp, mirror-faced crystals.
Yunnan's copper and lead-zinc districts produce the azurite, malachite, pyromorphite, hemimorphite and blue aragonite that define Chinese secondary minerals.
By size it is small cabinet, 6.5 × 5.3 × 4.5 cm (2.56 × 2.09 × 1.77 in) and 286 g (10.1 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.
