Eén aquamarijnprisma rijst vrij op uit deze miniatuur uit Xuebaoding – waterhelder in plaats van diep gekleurd, met slechts de flauwste zweem blauw in het lichaam en enkele inwendige sluiers vlak bij de top. Het groeit recht uit een witte, stralende waaier van fijne bladen, met parelmoerachtige, bleek olijfgroene plaatjes erachter opgestapeld en een tweede, kleinere rozet links weggedoken.
Aquamarijn is de blauwe variëteit van beryl, Be3Al2Si6O18, hexagonaal en hard met 7,5 tot 8 op de schaal van Mohs; de kleur komt van sporen ijzer. Kristallen uit Xuebaoding worden minder om hun verzadiging verzameld dan om hun glasheldere transparantie, hun schone prismavlakken en de alpiene associaties waarop ze zitten; dit exemplaar is daar een rechttoe rechtaan voorbeeld van.
De groep meet 2,5 × 2,8 × 3,6 cm en weegt 14 g. Ze arriveert op de afgebeelde lichtamberkleurige acrylsokkel, en het stuk op deze opnamen is het stuk dat verstuurd wordt.
