Over dit exemplaar
Yunnan blue baryte at 5.9 cm and 270 g; a dense small cabinet piece in an unusual colour.
Baryte (barite) is barium sulfate: heavy for its size, soft, and prone to tabular or bladed crystals with a bright vitreous lustre.
Yunnan's copper and lead-zinc districts produce the azurite, malachite, pyromorphite, hemimorphite and blue aragonite that define Chinese secondary minerals.
The piece is small cabinet in size, 5.9 × 5.5 × 3.5 cm (2.32 × 2.17 × 1.38 in) and 270 g (9.5 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.
