Over dit exemplaar
Twee honingkleurige kristalbladen komen los uit een donkergrijsbruine splinter gesteente, het ene breed en rechtop, het andere kleiner en opzij gedraaid. Beide zijn bedekt met een fijne suikerige druse die het licht in duizend punten breekt, en beide zijn warm amber in plaats van wit: de tint van slappe thee tegen het raam. Langs de bovenranden kleven een paar donkere spikkels matrix.
Drusige calciet van dit type komt laat en groeit als een huid over een eerder substraat, en daarom herhalen de bladen de vorm van het gesteente eronder in plaats van als losse kristallen te staan. Calciet doet vrijwel alles: romboëders, scalenoëders, spijkerkoppen, niervormige korsten, dit soort afgeplatte overgroeiing. Mohshardheid 3 en drie perfecte splijtrichtingen betekenen dat hij snel tekent; houd hem uit de buurt van hardere exemplaren.
Compact met 3,6 × 3,6 × 2,3 cm en 20 g, geleverd met kit vastgezet op de getoonde heldere acrylkubus. Geen twee stukken uit Daye herhalen zich, en dat op de foto is het stuk dat de winkel verlaat, kubus en al.
