Waterhelder tot rijpwit – deze fluorietgroep uit Xianghualing is een studie in kleurloosheid: in elkaar gegroeide kubussen waarvan de getrapte vlakken ogen als gebeeldhouwd ijs, met glasheldere vensters die zich naar het binnenste openen overal waar de matte laag dunner wordt. Geen pigment, geen trucs: alleen meetkunde en licht.
Kleurloos fluoriet is de stille favoriet van de kenner. Zonder kleur om op terug te vallen draait alles om vorm en helderheid, en dit stuk levert beide – scherpe ribben, gave beëindigingen en die waterige transparantie waar de fluorietholtes van de regio Chenzhou om bekendstaan.
Het meet 7,6 × 5,6 × 6,1 cm, weegt 241 g en staat op de getoonde standaard van draad en acryl. De foto’s zijn van dit specimen zelf.
