Over dit exemplaar
Tegen het licht gehouden krijgt dit blok de kleur van bleek selderijwater – een zacht seladongroen dat naar de basis toe melkwit betrekt, met vage donkerdere groene slierten die als weer door het inwendige drijven. De boven- en achterzijde zijn brede vlakke splijtvlakken, licht getrapt en glazig waar ze vers zijn; de onderrand is een natuurlijke breuk, omzoomd door een donkergroene film en één klein roestkleurig plekje.
Dit is gespleten fluoriet en geen volledig kristal, en dat mag gerust hardop gezegd worden: door de octaëdrische splijting in vier richtingen komt materiaal uit Yaogangxian vaak als schone platen en wiggen zoals deze van de holtewand. De winst is optisch – weinig laat de inwendige kleurbandering van fluoriet beter zien dan een vlak, onbelemmerd splijtvenster. Met hardheid 4 (Mohs) krast het gemakkelijk, dus geef het een plank in plaats van een broekzak.
