Over dit exemplaar
Heldere kwartspunten waaieren in alle richtingen uit deze groep uit Yaogangxian, de twee langste onder een steile hoek naar buiten hellend en uitlopend in scherpe, onbeschadigde terminaties. Tussen hun voeten zitten cassiterietkristallen weggestopt van een hard, olieachtig zwart dat het licht opslokt waar het kwarts het juist terugkaatst, en rechtsonder schuift bleekpaarse fluoriet in beeld onder het kristalfront. Laag op de plaat zitten enkele messingkleurige, metaalglanzende puntjes.
Dat drietal – kwarts, cassiteriet, fluoriet – is de vingerafdruk van een tinvoerende greisenader, en Yaogangxian in Chenzhou, Hunan, is daarvoor het klassieke Chinese adres. Cassiteriet is SnO2, het belangrijkste tinerts, verrassend zwaar in de hand en hard met Mohs 6–7. Het kwarts beschermt het hier; de fluoriet is met Mohs 4 het zachtste op het stuk en het onderdeel om bij het hanteren in de gaten te houden.
De plaat meet 7,4 × 3,8 × 4,6 cm en 150 g en wordt los geleverd, zonder montage. Beschouw deze foto's als een portret van het werkelijke stuk en niet als een voorbeeld van het type.
