Over dit exemplaar
Yunxiao, Fujian, smoky quartz on feldspar at 225 g; a small cabinet piece with the quartz standing proud. A cluster of translucent smoky quartz points standing on a bed of cream feldspar crystals over a dark grey base, the tallest point at the centre.
The smoky colour is natural and usually deepens toward the terminations while the prism bases stay clearer.
Feldspar forms the blocky, pale crystals that act as a stage for the more colourful minerals in a pegmatite pocket.
Yunxiao County in southern Fujian is a modern classic for Fanta-orange spessartine on smoky quartz and feldspar, mined from granite pegmatite pockets.
The piece is small cabinet in size, 7.8 × 7 × 4.4 cm (3.07 × 2.76 × 1.73 in) and 225 g (7.9 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.
