Guangdong specularite with quartz at 32 g; a small cabinet piece with a vertical accent.
Specular hematite (specularite) is iron oxide in mirror-bright platy crystals; it gives a piece a metallic sparkle that photographs poorly and looks far better in hand.
Rock crystal is judged on termination quality, clarity and how the crystals sit together, and the Chinese localities have raised the bar on all three.
Guangdong is the source of the red hematoid quartz and green phantom quartz that reached collectors after 2015.
The piece is small cabinet in size, 5 × 3.4 × 2 cm (1.97 × 1.34 × 0.79 in) and 32 g (1.1 oz). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
