Kijkt u recht in deze zeegroene kubus uit Xianghualing, dan kijkt er een tweede kubus terug: een donkerder groen fantoom dat pal in het midden zweeft, met randen even scherp als die van het kristal eromheen. Verzamelaars noemen dat effect een venster: een compleet ouder kristal dat bewaard is gebleven in het jongere, en alleen zichtbaar doordat de latere groei doorzichtig bleef.
Langs een paar randen en hoeken loopt okerkleurige ijzeraanslag, het handschrift van de holte, en de vlakken zelf zijn glasglad, met flauwe groeitrappen. Xianghualing, in Chenzhou, Hunan, is de vindplaats die dit geneste kubusbeeld beroemd heeft gemaakt.
Het kristal meet 6,1 × 5,2 × 3,9 cm en weegt 140 g. Natuurlijk en onbehandeld; de afbeeldingen tonen dit exemplaar en geen ander.
