Tegen het licht gehouden gloeit deze fluoriet uit Peking in de kleur van dikke honing. Blokkige kristallen klimmen in getrapte lagen over de volle 9,4 cm van het stuk, elk verbleekt tot strogeel waar het dunner wordt en verdiept tot warm amber waar de lagen op elkaar stapelen. Langs één flank breekt de groei open in een melkwitte korst, en juist die koele rand zet het goud in reliëf.
Geel in fluoriet komt van defecten en spoorverontreinigingen binnen het CaF2-rooster en niet van één enkel kleurgevend element; daarom verschuift de verzadiging van kristal tot kristal binnen dezelfde cluster. De soort staat op mohshardheid 4 en splijt perfect langs vier octaëdrische richtingen, zodat een stoot tegen een hoek een schone driehoekige schilfer wegneemt in plaats van een schram achter te laten. Houd hem weg van harde planken en van hardere buren.
Met 9,4 × 2,5 × 4,8 cm en 185 g is dit een comfortabel exemplaar voor één hand, gefotografeerd tussen de vingers zodat de schaal eerlijk afleesbaar is. Er wordt geen standaard meegeleverd. Wat verzonden wordt is het stuk op deze foto's, niets wat erop lijkt.
