A giant lead-zinc-silver lode
Discovered in 1883, the Broken Hill orebody has been mined for well over a century. Weathering of its rich sulfide ore produced a brightly coloured oxidised zone that yielded outstanding collector specimens.
Signature minerals
Broken Hill is famous for pink rhodonite, green and brown pyromorphite, cerussite, smithsonite and native silver, among many others — a roll-call of classic Australian specimens.
