这类浑圆的方解石形成于矿物沉积得又快又均匀的环境，因此生长是同时向四面八方扩展，而不是沿着单一轴向冲成尖端。 方解石很软——莫氏硬度 3——只要施力稍有不当就会沿菱面体裂开。 它接触任何酸性物质也会被蚀刻，所以请用干毛刷除尘，并让醋与柑橘类清洁剂离架子远一点。
