收藏家称此为花瓣状晶习：方解石以宽阔扁平的菱面体生长，层层交叠堆砌，而非长成块状的单晶。 方解石莫氏硬度 3，三个方向具完全解理，受撞时会干净地劈开，而不是崩出小缺口。 请让它远离食醋、除垢剂与家用清洁剂——稀酸会直接把晶面上的光泽蚀去。
