乳白色方解石一瓣叠一瓣地在这件小晶簇上铺展，刃片薄到光线穿过边缘时会透出微光，层层交叠的扇形确实读起来就像一朵花。 刃片之间露出灰色半透明的小晶体与深灰色岩石斑块，让这片白色有了可以推挤的对象。
这类刃状方解石形成于低温矿脉中，扁平的板状生长在那里胜过了多数人一听到矿物名就联想到的块状菱面体。 方解石（CaCO3）摩氏硬度 3，并在三个方向具完全解理，因此这么薄的刃片极易崩缺：请由底部托起标本，切勿抓握花瓣，并存放在没有更硬物件会挪动摩擦的位置。
