两种颜色分割这件小型福建晶簇：左侧的立方体呈饱和紫色，右侧则是冷冽的冰蓝，两者都通透得能一眼看进内部。 较大的晶体里，这道界线以方正的幻影重复出现——早期的立方体被封存在后来的晶体之中，棱边仍与外部晶面平行。 底部有一道深灰色母岩脉，点缀着金属光泽的细闪。
这类幻影记录了一次停顿。 萤石（CaF2）在冷却的溶液中一层层生长；当溶液的化学组成改变，负责呈色的微量元素也随之改变，那一刻的晶体表面便以彩色壳层的形式保存在成品之中。 以陈列矿物而言萤石偏软，摩氏硬度仅 4，且沿四个方向完全解理，因此请托住母岩，而不要抓握突出的立方体。
晶簇尺寸为 5.5 × 3.4 × 4.6 cm，重 120 g。 不含底座；这里的照片，张张都只拍了这一件标本。
