两支乳白色的石英晶尖自一层低矮的小晶体结壳上升起，较高的一支柱面覆霜到近乎不透明，晶尖处却恰好清透，足以映出一道高光。 左侧有一组黄铁矿半埋在石英之中，阶梯状的金属晶面在一片白色映衬下近乎黑色。 底部与一侧环绕着一圈细长的次生晶尖。
石英的乳白并非缺陷，而是一份普查纪录：快速生长时捕获的无数微小流体与气体包裹体，在光线穿透之前就将它散射回来。 莫氏硬度 7 的 SiO2，是这件标本上唯一可以毫无顾虑拿取的矿物——需要小心的是黄铁矿，因为硫化物对潮湿空气的反感远胜过对手指。 保持干燥，它就能守住金属般的表面。
