外蜜内芥。 这件北京萤石上的主晶是半透明的琥珀金色立方体，而在它内部——通过正面晶面便可直接看见——浮着一方色泽更深、饱和的黄色方块，那是一圈色带，在往内数毫米处重复着立方体本身的几何。 细密的平行阶梯纹在晶面上层层荡开，记录着生长以阶地方式推进的过程；右侧还倚进一颗颜色较淡的立方体。
在中国各产地之中，黄色是萤石较少见的颜色，抵达收藏者手中的多以紫色与绿色为主。 整体的化学组成同样是 CaF2，不同的只是微量的致色中心。 摩氏硬度 4 加上完全的八面体解理，意味着拿取时要稳而轻，并且绝不可使用超音波清洗。
