紫色被封在这颗立方晶体的正中央，像玻璃里凝住的墨：浓郁的紫罗兰色核心向外逐渐淡为丁香紫，再到几乎无色的边缘，使晶体看来像被自己的浅色外框框住。 左侧另有一颗颜色较淡的立方晶体倚靠着它。 两者都坐落在一块赭色与奶油色的晶簇平板上，糖霜般的表面被锈褐色斑块打断，右上方还有一颗细小的透明晶体。
这样的色带分区是一份生长纪录。 萤石的颜色来自晶体生长时嵌入晶格的缺陷与微量元素，因此流体在晶体长到一半时改变，会留下明确的颜色界线而非渐层——这里浅色的外壳，是在紫罗兰色的内部停止生长之后才形成的。 对着窗户举起来看，核心会变得更深，边缘则几乎消失。 莫氏硬度 4，具完全的八面体解理：请握着底板拿取。
