一颗宛如冻结薰衣草水色泽的萤石晶体，停栖在深色锡石母岩的凸节上，颜色都聚在边缘：肩部与右下角转为紫罗兰色，宽阔的晶面却清澈近水。 往里看，隐约的内部细缝勾勒出一颗较小立方体的轮廓——那是后来的晶体包覆生长的早期晶体。 右侧有一颗颜色更深的紫色晶体自岩石中冒出，前方晶面上则点缀着黑色与赭色的细斑。
瑶岗仙的萤石很少一次不间断地长成。 化学条件改变、生长暂停、一层薄薄的杂质沉降下来，下一层再将它封住——这正是此地时常出现幻影轮廓的原因。 萤石的化学式为 CaF2，莫氏硬度 4，沿四个八面体方向干净解理，因此撞到棱角是这颗晶体唯一无法原谅的事。
标本尺寸为 3.0 × 2.0 × 2.8 cm，重 20 g。 照片拍的就是这颗晶体，别无其他；随附时以黏土固定在图中的透明压克力座上。
