数百颗细小的橙色晶体挤满这块摩洛哥标本板，每一颗都是几毫米见方的矮胖块体，肩并肩排列到整个表面看起来像一层连续的外壳。 颜色从外侧晶面明亮的橘红，过渡到晶体紧贴下方赭色结壳处的红棕，而每一个晶体终端都反射出坚硬的玻璃光点。
钼铅矿是钼酸铅，化学式 PbMoO4：体积虽小却沉手，硬度仅莫氏 3。 像这样的密集堆挤，发生在晶体成核速度快过其铺展速度的时候，于是得到的不是几片宽阔的板状晶，而是由数百颗小晶体组成的镶嵌面。 请托着底座拿取，避开粗糙表面，清洁时也不要使用比软毛刷更粗的工具。
