一座白色的方解石尖塔以层层外张的叠层自这件瑶岗仙小标本的顶端攀升，经过十来层如货架般的楼层渐次收窄至一个钝尖——这正是收藏家所称的宝塔状方解石，而这一件是教科书式的呈现。 下方，烟丁香紫的萤石立方体构成标本的主体，平坦的白色方解石板则如花瓣般向侧面散开。
这种层叠来自方解石以脉冲方式生长，每一新层都比下面一层略宽地铺开，直到碳酸盐的供应转弱，下一轮才又开始。 方解石（CaCO3）莫氏硬度 3，具完全的菱面体解理，即使稀酸也会起反应；其下的萤石（CaF2）则为莫氏硬度 4。 请让这件标本远离超音波清洗机与任何家用清洁液。
体积小巧，3.8 × 3.0 × 3.3 cm，重 30 g，以黏土胶固定在图中的透明压克力方块上，底座随标本一同寄出。 这些画面拍的就是标本本身，尖塔完好无损。
