湖南瑶岗仙以饱和的绿色与紫色萤石闻名得多，因此近乎无色的蓝色料是这座矿山比较安静的一面。 这类扁平晶体的形成，是晶习沿两个方向伸展、在第三个方向停滞的结果；表面的浮凸则来得更晚，是后期流体部分回溶晶面所致。 萤石莫氏硬度 4，具完全的八面体解理，因此这样一枚薄双晶需要一个没有东西会压到它边缘的位置。
上手仅 20 g，十分轻盈；而它在背光下最为出色，两枚晶体之间的接合处会清晰浮现。 它随附影像中所见的白色黏土垫；那些影像记录的是这一对晶体本身，而不是代表性样品。
