淡淡的冰川蓝且近乎透明，这枚小巧的瑶岗仙萤石完全由阶梯构成：每一道立方体棱边都分解成一列列微型立方体，因此整体轮廓看来更像阶梯金字塔，而不是一块方砖。 一团卡其色的白云石咬住底面，晶体内部则浮着一朵柔和的白云——那是一枚更早、更小的晶体被后续生长覆盖之处。
这种阶梯来自骸晶生长。 当成矿流体浓度丰沛时，棱与角吸收物质的速度快过晶面中央，晶面便被留在后方，成为下陷的阶地。 内部那道淡色的形状是幻影——晶体在生长重新开始之前的表面。 萤石 CaF2 莫氏硬度 4，八面体解理完全：向内细看赏心悦目，摔落却毫不留情。
