一道血红色六边形晶体构成的矿脉斜贯这块摩洛哥砂岩小楔块，每颗钒铅矿晶体都是宽 2 至 5 毫米的矮胖六方板状，底面明亮如镜。 晶体稀疏之处便由岩石接手：粉玫瑰色的砂岩上点缀着黑色的树枝状锰氧化物，而在生长最丰盛的区域下方，还有一道锈色的铁染条带。
钒铅矿是氯钒酸铅，Pb5(VO43Cl，只在铅矿床于近地表缓慢氧化的环境中形成，钒则多半来自周围的围岩。 位于中阿特拉斯山米德勒特附近的米布拉登（Mibladen），正是它的经典产地。 晶体莫氏硬度约 3，质地偏软，棱边脆弱，因此请在灯下转动观赏，而不要在众人手中传递。
