请看进这枚晶体，而不只是看着它。 在冰白般淡紫的表层之下，片片白色羽状包裹体悬浮于晶体内部，如雪落至半途被凝住；其后则横过几道深紫色带，勾勒出这枚晶体昔日较小立方体的方正轮廓。 外侧晶面以平行阶梯层层攀升，洁净处呈玻璃光泽，顶缘尚附少许母岩之处则呈霜白奶色。
幻影形成于生长的停顿。 另一种矿物的薄膜沉落在晶面上，生长恢复后将其封入，旧有的表面便以幽灵般的轮廓留存于成形的晶体内部——那是晶洞化学环境在某一刻的纪录。 幻影之间的紫色色带，则是 CaF2 晶格中的色心。 莫氏硬度 4，四个方向完全解理，切勿用力捏握晶角。
