Xuebaoding, Sichuan, fluorite at 6 cm and 216 g; a small cabinet piece. A large colourless fluorite in a rough octahedral form with glassy, striated faces, relatively complete overall as the supplier notes.
Fluorite is the classic collector's halide: calcium fluoride that grows as cubes, octahedra and stepped combinations, often with colour zoning that shows best in daylight.
Xuebaoding in Pingwu County is the classic Chinese source of scheelite, aquamarine and cassiterite on muscovite, mined from high-altitude greisen veins.
Dimensions place it in the small cabinet range, 5 × 4.5 × 6 cm (1.97 × 1.77 × 2.36 in) and 216 g (7.6 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
