Xuebaoding, Sichuan, quartz with mica at 9.3 cm and 147 g; a cabinet single crystal, priced with the tip disclosed. A stout quartz prism with a golden iron tint and glassy faces, standing on a base of pale mica; the supplier notes a slightly damaged tip.
Quartz is the most collected mineral on earth for good reason: sharp hexagonal prisms, bright terminations and endless variation between localities.
Mica books, silvery to bronze, are the usual companion of pegmatite minerals and add a flash of pearly lustre to the piece.
The Xuebaoding veins of Pingwu County, Sichuan, produced the orange scheelite and muscovite-aquamarine combinations that put Chinese minerals on the map.
The piece is cabinet in size, 2.9 × 2.8 × 9.3 cm (1.14 × 1.10 × 3.66 in) and 147 g (5.2 oz). Disclosed condition: a slightly damaged tip. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
