بيضاء من أوّلها إلى آخرها، ومفصّصة كرأس القرنبيط: هذه القطعة من دالي كومة محكمة من ورديّات الهيدروزنكيت، كل انتفاخة فيها منتهية بقشرة حبيبية بالغة النعومة حتى لتبدو صقيعًا لا بلّورًا. والضوء العابر عليها يردّ بريقًا ناعمًا منتشرًا بدل ومضة المرآة، وفي الأودية بين الفصوص تقبع حبيبات زجاجية أكبر، تميل إلى الزرقة الخفيفة حيث ينفذ الضوء منها.
الهيدروزنكيت، Zn5(CO3)2(OH)6، كربونات زنك ثانوية تتكوّن حيث تهاجم المياه المتحرّكة خام الزنك الأوّلي قرب السطح — ولهذا يأتي في قشور طريّة لا في بلورات حرّة. وهو معدن يُعتمد عليه تحت الأشعة فوق البنفسجية، إذ يردّ عادةً على الموجة القصيرة بتوهّج أزرق شاحب. تعرض البطاقة السلستين مصاحبًا محتملًا؛ وما دام غير مؤكّد فإننا ننبّه إليه ولا ندّعيه. وبصلادة 2 إلى 2.5 على مقياس موس فهو طريّ: فرشاة جافّة فقط، ولا أحماض.
