A single well-formed fluorite octahedron in grape purple with green edges sits like a jewel on top of a mound of pale, sugary calcite crystals. Below it the calcite grades into honey and olive tones where a second generation of quartz and iron-stained calcite coats the base, so the piece reads as a small hill with one coloured summit.
Fujian's fluorite veins usually give purple or green in bulk; a lone bi-coloured octahedron perched on matrix is the harder combination to find, and the contrast between the saturated fluorite and the frosted calcite is what makes this one work in a cabinet.
Size 7.5 × 5.1 × 5 cm / 2.95 × 2.01 × 1.97 in; weight 133 g / 4.7 oz. Small cabinet specimen, displays well on a shelf or in a cabinet. Sold exactly as photographed; any known repair, mount, treatment or condition note is disclosed in this listing.
