Guizhou dolomite with calcite at 11 cm and 445 g; a cabinet plate in clean white.
Calcite is the most shape-shifting of common minerals: over 800 crystal forms have been described, and Chinese localities produce many of the best.
Dolomite forms curved, saddle-shaped rhombs with a pearly lustre and is the usual companion of calcite and fluorite in Chinese carbonate deposits.
Guizhou is the source of the collector creedite and hosts important fluorite, calcite and copper-mineral localities around Qinglong.
The piece is cabinet in size, 11 × 7.5 × 4.8 cm (4.33 × 2.95 × 1.89 in) and 445 g (15.7 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
