Über diese Stufe
Aufrecht gestellt liest es sich als einzelnes Blatt. Dieser Calcit aus Anhui ist eine dünne strohgelbe Klinge von gut 6 cm Höhe, die sich zu einer Spitze verjüngt; ihr Inneres ist von federartigen Adern durchzogen, die von der Basis zur Spitze hin verzweigen. Die Ränder sind fein gezähnt, wo sich Wachstumslagen stapeln, und aus der unteren Mitte ragt ein kleiner klarer Kristall wie eine Knospe am Stiel. Im Gegenlicht wird die Klinge zu warmem Honig.
Zu dieser Form gelangt Calcit über Parallelverwachsung: dünne Platten aus CaCO3, die Fläche an Fläche stapeln und leicht auseinanderfächern, sodass sich der Umriss in Stufen aufbaut, während die inneren Grenzen als blasse Federzeichnung sichtbar bleiben. Behandeln Sie das Stück als das zerbrechliche Objekt, das es ist – Mohs 3, vollkommene Spaltbarkeit nach drei Richtungen, und eine so dünne Klinge bricht bei unachtsamem Griff, statt bloß zu verkratzen.
Die Stufe steht 6,1 cm hoch auf einer Grundfläche von 2,3 × 2,0 cm und wiegt 31 g. Geliefert wird sie auf dem abgebildeten klaren Acrylblock, mit weißer Klebemasse aufrecht gesetzt. Die Fotos halten genau diese Klinge fest, kein stellvertretendes Exemplar.
