Diese unbehandelte Trauben-Achat-Stufe aus Indonesien zeigt traubige Aggregate in kräftigem Lavendel und tiefem Violett. Die kugeligen „Trauben“ schimmern seidig wie Sternenlicht, hervorgerufen von dicht gepackten Mikrokristallen, die das Licht aus jedem Winkel einfangen. Reste natürlicher Matrix an der Basis geben den glatten, traubigen Flächen Kontrast und Zusammenhang.

Hunderte kleiner Kugeln drängen sich auf dieser indonesischen Stufe dicht an dicht, in weichem Lavendel, das dort ins Blaulila kippt, wo das Licht auftrifft, und an der Unterkante ins blasse Graugrün. Die Oberfläche ist satiniert statt glasig – jede Kugel ist ein Aggregat mikroskopischer Quarzkristalle und streut das Licht, statt es zu spiegeln –, und nahe der rechten oberen Schulter bricht ein kleiner Fleck weißer Druse durch.
Im Handel läuft das Material als Trauben-Achat; mineralogisch ist es ein traubiger Chalcedon, und an der Form ist nichts geschliffen oder poliert: Die runden Kügelchen zeigen schlicht, wie Kieselsäure in einem vulkanischen Hohlraum erstarrt ist. Chalcedon ist mit rund Mohs 6,5–7 hart und verlangt kaum Pflege – ein weicher trockener Pinsel zwischen den Kugeln genügt, denn dort setzt sich der Staub gern fest.
Über die Schaufläche misst die Gruppe 7,1 x 6,6 cm, in der Tiefe 3,0 cm, bei 125 g; sie steht ohne Ständer sicher auf ihrer Bruchfläche. Abgebildet ist das einzelne Stück, das versendet wird.
