Über diese Stufe
Der größte Würfel dieser Platte trägt tief in seiner Mitte einen rauchvioletten Schatten, der hinter Flächen aus blass mintgrünem Fluorit schwebt, die fast an Seeglas erinnern. Ringsum stuft sich ein flaches Mosaik kleinerer Würfel in alle Richtungen über die Platte, und das rechte Drittel geht in ein Dickicht farbloser Quarzspitzen über, gesprenkelt mit rostbrauner Eisenfärbung.
Xianghualing in Hunan ist die Quelle dieser kühlen, ruhigen Grüntöne, einer sanfteren Palette als die satten Violetts, für die die Provinz bekannter ist, und einer, die die innere Farbzonierung durchscheinen lässt. Fluorit (CaF2) hat nur Mohs 4 und trennt sich entlang vier vollkommener oktaedrischer Spaltflächen; heben Sie das Stück deshalb am quarzreichen Ende an und halten Sie es von Stößen und plötzlichen Temperaturwechseln fern.
Die Platte misst 11,7 x 6,9 x 4,6 cm und wiegt 260 g, groß genug, um ohne Hilfe im Regal zu stehen; gezeigt wird sie hier in der Hand, ohne Sockel. Sämtliche Fotos dieser Seite entstanden an dem Exemplar, das bei Ihnen ankommt.
