Über diese Stufe
Rost- und nelkenbraunes Eisenoxid steckt in flachen Lagen im Inneren dieser Quarzkristalle, sodass die Gruppe warm pfirsichfarben statt wasserklar wirkt. Ein halbes Dutzend prismatischer Individuen steht Schulter an Schulter, das höchste trägt nach Zepterart einen breiteren Kopf über einem schmaleren Schaft. Die Flächen sind hell und unbeschädigt, und die inneren Ebenen flammen auf, wenn man das Stück gegen das Licht dreht.
Das Haramosh-Massiv in Gilgit-Baltistan ist ein hohes, kaltes Revier alpiner Klüfte, und sein Quarz führt häufig genau diesen Eisenstaub, aufgenommen aus dem Wirtsgestein, während die Kristalle noch wuchsen. Quarz ist SiO2, trigonal, Mohs 7 – hart genug, um ihn ohne Sorge in die Hand zu nehmen, was auf das meiste, was mit ihm eine Vitrine teilt, nicht zutrifft.
Klein genug für ein Miniaturenregal mit 3,6 × 2,8 × 4,3 cm und 45 g, ist die Gruppe mit Klebemasse auf einem klaren Acrylblock befestigt, der die Spitzen auf Augenhöhe hebt. Sämtliche Aufnahmen zeigen diese Kristallgruppe und keine andere.
