Tausende schlanker Stilbit-Blättchen strahlen von einem einzigen Punkt aus und verdichten sich zu einer pfirsichcremefarbenen Kugel, die eine Mulde im grauen Basalt darunter ausfüllt. Die Nadelspitzen sind matt und wie bereift; weiter unten, wo die Blättchen breiter werden, wirken die Kristalle glasig und schwach durchscheinend. Nahe der Krone sitzt ein Feld weißeren, feineren Wuchses, und zwei wachsig blassgelbe Knollen haften am blasigen Gestein darunter.
Indische Basaltdecken sind von alten Gasblasen durchsetzt, und in diesen Blasen kristallisieren Zeolithe wie Stilbit aus zirkulierenden Lösungen aus. Eine Kugel wie diese entsteht, wenn das Wachstum an einem einzigen Keim der Hohlraumwand beginnt und sich in jede offen gebliebene Richtung ausbreitet. Stilbit ist mit Mohshärte 3,5–4 weich und spröde – halten Sie ihn trocken, pusten Sie Staub eher ab, als zu bürsten, dann bleiben die Blattspitzen scharf.
