Frontal betrachtet ist dieser Fluorit aus Yaogangxian eine kleine Stadt aus Würfeln: Ein breiter Kristall füllt die Mitte, während kleinere Würfel in Staffeln über seine obere Schulter klettern und dem Stück jenen giebelartigen, hausähnlichen Umriss geben, dem es seinen Namen verdankt. Die Farbe reicht von fast schwarzem Indigo oben über Traubenviolett und staubiges Altrosa bis zur Basis, und blass olivgrüner Glimmer bestäubt Kanten und Nahtstellen.
Die Absätze lesen sich wie ein Wachstumstagebuch. Jeder von ihnen ist eine Lage, die sich über die darunterliegende Fläche ausbreitete und vor deren Rand endete; das dunkelste Band markiert den Wachstumsschub, der die meiste Farbe eingefangen hat. Fluorit ist mit Mohs 4 weich und trennt sich entlang oktaedrischer Ebenen – deshalb fassen Sammler derart große Würfel an der Matrixseite an und nicht an einer Ecke.
