Über diese Stufe
Hubei red-capped tower calcite at 5.3 cm and 43 g; a small cabinet piece with an unusual form.
Collectors chase calcite for form rather than colour: crisp crystal edges and a habit you can identify from across the room.
Hubei's Daye copper-iron mines are famous for calcite, and the province also produces fluorite and quartz from its mountain districts.
Dimensions place it in the small cabinet range, 5.3 × 4.5 × 2.3 cm (2.09 × 1.77 × 0.91 in) and 43 g (1.5 oz). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
Carbonate: never clean with acid or vinegar.
Every specimen here is photographed and catalogued individually before listing.
